Ideal Cast for the Watchmen

Here are the kinds of conversations two movie/comic nerds have when no one is looking:

We heard that there was a Watchmen movie, and we're (understandably) freaked out by the possibility of it being ruined as some of our other literary favorites have been. We figured a good cast would be a good start.

Watchmen

  • Rorschach: Tim Roth, Willem Dafoe
  • Comedian: Jim Carey
  • Ozymandias: I forget, maybe Jude Law?
  • Dr. Manhattan: Eric Bana
  • Nite-Owl: Alan Tudyk
  • Silk Spectre: Natalie Portman
  • The Pirate: Kevin Bacon

I'm sure G will remember our Ozy choice (she always does). =D

We still need a director, though. I'll save that for another post.

Ah well, the real director of the movie posted this recently. Cool!

Rorschach: Christian Bale.

Comedian: Jim Carey. How about Ron Perlman?

Ozymandias: I'm thinking that Laurence Fishburn would be the man. I think we were considering Liam Neeson.
Jude Law? NEVER.

Dr Manhattan: Eric Bana is a good choice, as far as the look. I haven't seen enough of his work to know if he could pull off this role.

Nite-Owl: Alan Tudyk..end of story. Anyone else just won't do.

Silk Spectre: Natalie Portman Who would be the old Silk Spectre?Elizabeth Perkins still working? Connie Sellecca could look the part, but did she learn to act recently?

The Pirate: Kevin Bacon. Oh yeah.

Having been told the actual cast, I'm disappointed in the Nite-Owl choice. He was good as the photographer in Hard Candy though.

The choice for Rorschach, yeah I can totally see him doing it. The guy playing Rorschach, Jackie Earle Haley...anybody else recognize him from something other than "Little Children"? Think back, try to picture him as a child. If it doesn't come to you, then look it up. But try not to cheat.

I love that Max Headroom is going to be in the movie.
